Greater Noida: A district and POCSO special court presided over by Judge Vikas Nagar has convicted Veer, alias Bhola, a resident of Jewar. He raped a seven-year-old girl and has been sentenced to 20 years in prison and fined ₹50,000. If the fine is not paid, he must serve an extra six months.
Case details
On 21 May 2017, the child was playing outside her home in Jewar when Veer lured her into nearby fields. After neighbors and relatives found the accused assaulting the girl, her father filed a complaint at Jewar police station.
Investigation.closed with the filing of a chargesheet in court.
During the trial, eight prosecution witnesses testified. The judge found Veer guilty under sections 5(m)/6 of the POCSO Act, noting a sexual assault on a child under 12 years of age is classified as a grave offence.
