MBA first-year student Akash Sharma was assaulted at gun-point inside his hostel room at Galgotias College, Greater Noida.

Akash, originally from Lucknow, lived in Krishna Hostel near Ansal Golf Link-1. On the night of 23 July, according to his mother Sabita Sharma, the hostel owner Nitin Sharma and two associates—Amit Choudhary and Vivek Sharma—forced their way into Akash’s room, brandished a pistol, beat him, snatched his phone and smashed it.

Hearing his cries, nearby students rushed in and rescued him. The family had a one-year hostel agreement that ran until after his exams, yet the accused had been pressuring Akash to vacate early. When Sabita phoned Nitin to complain, he used abusive language and threatened to throw the boy out immediately.

Sabita travelled to Greater Noida the same day and filed a complaint at Beta-2 police station. Police have registered a case against hostel owner Nitin Sharma and say further action will be taken on the basis of the investigation.
