The S D Vidya School is a progressive, English-medium co-educational day school nestled on a six-acre, green campus in Sector 32, Ludhiana. Established in 1990 under the aegis of the S.D. Sabha (Regd.), the institution draws inspiration from the ideals of Swami Dayanand Saraswati, placing equal emphasis on 21st-century skills and timeless values of truth, service and discipline. Recognised by the Directorate of Education (Punjab) and affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education up to Class XII (Aff. No. 1630056), the school presently serves 3,200 students taught by 220 qualified faculty members, maintaining a healthy 1:15 teacher–student ratio.
Academically, the school offers three distinct streams at senior-secondary—Science (with Engineering & Medical sections), Commerce and Humanities—supplemented by subjects such as Psychology, Legal Studies, Fashion Studies and Mass Media. A skill-hub programme that integrates Microsoft Imagine Academy, NSE Financial Literacy and Pearson CTE-certified Retail Management courses equips students with vocational certificates before they leave school. From Grade IX onward, each learner follows a personalised academic tracker app developed in-house, generating weekly dashboards for parents and teachers.
The architectural design blends red-brick heritage blocks with modern glass-fronted STEAM towers. Facilities include 65 Smart Classrooms, three multimedia libraries, three composite science labs, a robotics & AI lab in partnership with Atal Tinkering Lab, a 3-D printing studio, and a fully Wi-Fi-enabled campus. A 25-station computer lab runs both Windows and Ubuntu systems; a Bloomberg Finance Lab caters specifically to business-stream students. The flagship Life-Skills Programme embeds design-thinking, mindfulness and verified internship blocks. Grade X students complete a three-week internship with companies such as VLCC, Tata Strive, or Fortis Healthcare; Grade XII students conduct community research at village Khudpur under IGNOU mentors. The annual Global Immersion Exchange takes a 40-member delegation to partner schools in Netherlands and Bhutan. Community outreach touches over 10,000 beneficiaries annually, with initiatives like “Young Educators Club” tutoring 180 neighbourhood under-schooled children every Saturday.
Values education is lived rather than lectured. The house system (Dharam, Chetna, Shakti, Pragati) drives inter-house Shramdaan drives, energy audits and a student-elected Social Justice Council using Restorative Circles. The school has been an active Eco-School (International Green Flag, 2023), integrating vermicompost pits, solar rooftop arrays and a student-monitored water-harvesting audit saving 1.8 lakh litres annually.
Within the last five years, students have secured top 1 % scorers in JEE-Advanced (four admissions to IITs) and launched a start-up “Agrosolve” that markets bio enzymes from kitchen waste at the National Youth Innovation Marathon.
