The Infinity School, opened in 2019, is a forward-looking day school for pupils aged 5–18 located on a ten-acre green campus on the eastern edge of Reading, England. It was founded by education investors Rana Khosla and Dr. Tarun Jain with the explicit mission to democratise breakthrough learning methods previously reserved for gifted-and-talented programmes. Today the school serves 750 students in three sections: Junior (Years 1–6), Senior (Years 7–11) and Sixth Form (Years 12–13). Small by design, every year group is capped at 100 places and broken into micro-classes of 15–18, ensuring adult–child ratios rarely exceed 1:11.
The curriculum is an intentionally hybrid model that braids the UK national curriculum with the Stanford-based Design Thinking cycle. Core English, mathematics and science remain IGCSE- and A-level-bound in Years 9–13, but every unit is refracted through a conceptual ‘lens’ such as Systems, Consequence or Ethics. Humanities are taught using the Harkness model; computer science begins in Year 3 with block-based languages and culminates in sixth-form electives in quantum computing ethics. Languages offered are Spanish, Mandarin and Lakota, the last taught through community partnership courses to keep heritage skills alive.
A distinctive pillar is the Infinity Studio, a two-storey makerspace that accepts commissions from local start-ups. Equipped with laser cutters, eight-short-ton CNC machines, bio-labs and kilns run on solar power, the studio is also the staging ground for a compulsory “Build Weeks” programme: four times a year regular timetables halt so mixed-age teams solve United Nations SDG briefs judged by external engineers. The school’s 2023 winning team prototyped an alginate-based water filter now piloted in rural Kenya.
Pastoral care is engineered just as deliberately. A biometric mood-lights corridor reads galvanic skin response on entry; high-arousal states trigger quiet-room invitations rather than sanctions. Each student belongs to a vertical “Launchpad” house of 60 pupils led by two learning coaches trained in cognitive behavioural coaching. Mental-health literacy is threaded through assemblies and daily ten-minute mindfulness anchored to heart-rate-variability data on pupil phones. Because the site is contiguous to the Thames floodplain, weekly resilience walks are also embedded in the timetable, teaching environmental self-regulation and dry-suit river safety skills.
Beyond the classroom, league teams compete in volleyball, climbing and esports; every child must log 50 hours of outdoor navigation before Year 11 and may opt for Royal Yachting Association sailing certificates on the nearby Caversham Lake. The Infinity Baccalaureate – awarded at 18 alongside A-levels – recognises entrepreneurship, empathy and eco-citizenship through holographic badges minted on a blockchain managed by pupils. Fees run at £7,650 per term, but a needs-blind bursary fund capped at 25 % of intake keeps the socio-economic mix intentional. Graduates of the first two cohorts now read engineering at MIT, liberal arts at Amherst and, in two recorded cases, direct feature documentaries.
