Sri Ma Vidyalaya, Nashik

Founded in 1997 by the Patel‐led Shri Ma Foundation, Sri Ma Vidyalaya is a CBSE-affiliated K–12 school set on a twenty-three-acre tree-lined campus three kilometres north of the Nasik-Trimbakeshwar Road. The school draws its name from the Bengali honorific “Ma”, chosen to embody the founders’ wish that every learner be “looked after with a mother’s care and raised with a mother’s high hopes”.

Academics follow India’s National Curriculum Framework with adaptations that keep the school at the city’s performance frontier. Year-groups begin at Playgroup and continue through Senior Secondary (Science, Commerce and Humanities streams). Early childhood uses a Montessori-inspired blend; Primary introduces Experimental English, Marathi and mathematics labs; Middle school embeds Howard Gardner’s multiple intelligences in daily lesson design; and Senior classes prepare for the All-India Senior Secondary Certificate Examination with electives such as Artificial Intelligence, IP and Entrepreneurship. The average board score hovers at 92 percent, with 38 percent of grade XII cohorts placing in India’s top 5 percentile each year.

The faculty of 127 includes two CBSE National Award recipients, four Ph.D. holders and forty-three postgraduate teachers who clock 180 hours of annual micro-certification with partners such as Cambridge India and Finland’s Xedu. A 15:1 student-teacher ratio allows “Mentor Families” of twenty-five students that stay together from Class VI to XII. Classrooms are 100 percent smart, while eight specialised labs (including a robotics cell, dark-room photography set-up and Atal Tinkering facility) rival those of engineering colleges.

Beyond the timetable, 120 co-curricular offerings ensure there is “a seat at the table for every talent”. Signature programmes include the Sri Ma Model United Nations, Nashik’s largest inter-school fest, and “Project JeevAyush”, a student-run primary health clinic that has served 9,400 villagers since 2016. Twenty-seven sports, ranging from archery to underwater hockey, are supervised by six SAI-certified coaches; the girls’ football team currently holds the Maharashtra CISCE-CBSE championship trophy.

Pastoral care is knitted into the architecture: a 24×7 nurse-mother team mans the Health & Happiness Room; Values Curriculum logs 60 hours of age-appropriate socio-emotional learning each year; and 96 trained Peer Buddies staff a buddy programme that reduced bullying incidents to zero in 2023 audits.

While rooted in the Indian ethos, the school runs the Global Immersion Diploma: semester-long exchanges with schools in Germany and Singapore, French and Spanish electives, and an annual UN-Paris videoconference on climate literacy. Boarding is available for Classes V-XII in two air-cooled, 220-cottages overseen by former army officers and lady wardens. Annual fee ranges mid-market for Nashik, while the Sri Ma Scholarship Fund finances 12 percent of seats for first-generation learners and girl children from single-parent homes.

Visitor testimonials often climax at the campus shrine to Saraswati adjoining the seventy-year-old banyan that sits at “Ma’s heart”. Beneath its shade, the school’s core belief—“A solid head, a sincere heart and skillful hands”—is re-affirmed every morning over the resonating chant, “Vidya dadāti vinayam”, Knowledge bestows humility.
