Modern School, Greater Noida is a co-educational day-cum-boarding institution affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and an extension of the 100-year-old Modern School legacy started in 1920 at Barakhamba Road. Since its inception in 2014 the campus has aimed to blend the original tradition of academic rigour, creative freedom and social responsibility with the high-octane energy of a 21st-century education hub. Located in Sector 131, Dadri Road, the 12-acre oval-shaped estate overlooks a 60-metre green buffer and the Amrapali-Noida Expressway, giving students a pollution-free yet well-connected environment.
Architecture and facilities mirror a “playground for inquiry.” The academic spine comprises four air-conditioned blocks—KG-Lower Primary, Middle, Senior and STEM—linked by shaded piazzas. Each block houses Google-for-Education enabled smart classes, modular science labs and writable walls; the Senior wing adds a 110-seat lecture theatre with projection-mapped ceilings and a Bloomberg Finance Lab established in collaboration with NSE. Beyond the spine lie a 28,000-volume three-floor library, an Idea Lab quipped with 3-D printers, laser cutters and 12 iMacs, twin Atal Tinkering Labs devoted to robotics and agritech, and a LEED-certified recording & broadcast studio that produces the weekly in-house podcast “Modern FM.” The performing-arts hub ‘Antra’ contains an acoustically engineered auditorium (700 seats), six sound-proof music rooms that double as coding labs by night, a black-box theatre and an open-air Greek-style stage on the central amphitheatre.
Sports infrastructure caters to both recreational pursuit and talent incubation: a FIFA-grade synthetic football field that hosted the 2023 U-13 Subroto preliminaries, a 400-m 8-lane track with 90-metre straight, two FIBA-standard indoor wooden basketball courts, flood-lit tennis, squash and badminton arenas, an Olympic-size 8-lane heated pool plus learner pool with 24-camera hydro-kinetics analysis system, rifle-shooting range (10 m & 50 m), climbing wall, taekwondo dojo and a wellbeing centre run by Fortis Healthcare that offers onsite physiotherapy, mindfulness pods and optional residential infirmity suites.
Pedagogy is inquiry-driven, interdisciplinary and values-based. The Modern School Curriculum Framework maps UN Sustainable Goals with CBSE NCF 2023 expectations and Cambridge Checkpoint from Grades VI-VIII. Students pursue credits in “Global Impact” (design thinking & social entrepreneurship), “Digital Fluency” (AI & Python certifications), and “Creative Pathways” (heritage restoration metal-cast workshops with Surajkund artisans). Assessments follow Oxford AQA rubrics plus AI-based personalised analytics on the MyModern platform originally built by IIT-Delhi interns. Foreign language options are French, Spanish and Mandarin; pioneer cohorts do Grade XI-XII Advanced Placement or IB, mentored by Ashoka & Singapore Management University instructors.
With 2300 pupils (day: 2100, boarding: 200) and 270 educators (including 65 PhDs and IB examiners), the current teacher-student ratio is 1:9. Student body represents 88 districts of India and 16 nations. The boarding house—Emerson & Tagore—is a two-storey LEED-platinum facility with biometric entry, smart lounges and chef-curated vegetarian and non-vegetarian menus. Annual fees range INR 3.0–4.95 lakhs (day) and 8.5 lakhs (boarding) and include two week-long study-tours—one domestic (Rann of Kutch, Sundarbans, Spiti) and one international (MIT Boston, EPFL Lausanne, Silicon Valley).
In its first decade the school has won the British Council International School Award (2022), National Curriculum Innovation Award (2023), and its students secured 47 Olympiad medals, 5 Millfield UK Scholarships and two INSEAD impact grants. Recent alums are reading at University of Cambridge, Minerva, Stanford UGVR and Ashoka YIF.
