J. R. Chaudhary Hospital Pvt. Ltd. is a 120-bed, NABH-accredited multi-specialty institution founded in 1998 in the heart of Janakpur, Dhanusha. What began as a 25-bed single-storey clinic has grown into the most advanced private healthcare facility in the region, serving patients from across Madhesh Province and neighbouring districts of Bihar. Named after philanthropist and first managing-director Dr. Janardan Ram Chaudhary, the hospital is majority family-owned but operates under a corporate governance model that reinvests 8 percent of annual turnover into community outreach, free hepato-biliary camps and subsidised dialysis for below-poverty-line cardholders.
The campus occupies 3.2 acres along Harihar Bhawan Road and comprises a four-storey diagnostic tower and three separate pavilions for in-patient wards, intensive care and state-heart intervention suites. All floors are linked by vacuum-tube pneumatic transport for pathology samples and pneumatic chute waste management that reduces infection risk. A rooftop 200 kW solar-grid supplies 40 percent of daytime electricity needs, supported by 600 kVA diesel generators that guarantee uninterrupted power for MRI and blood bank cryo-units.

Critical care is linked across 20 ICU beds, 8 high-dependency, 6 paediatric ICU, 6 neonatal ICU and 4 upgraded modular operation theatres equipped with Zeiss OPMI Pentero microscopes and 4K 3-D laparoscopy stacks. A region-first ECMO programme, launched in partnership with Medanta, has already supported 34 post-COVID ARDS survivors. The hospital maintains its own 3-level triage zone and has been the district’s Level-I trauma centre since 2018; a chopper pad on the fourth-floor terrace reduces inter-facility transfer time to Kathmandu to 45 minutes via Fishtail Air.
Human resources include 65 full-time consultants, 26 of whom have fellowships from the Royal Colleges or Cleveland Clinic, 190 qualified nurses (average 1:1.4 nurse-to-patient ratio, ICU) and 70 technical staff. The hospital is recognised by Tribhuvan University for postgraduate training in radio-diagnosis, anaesthesiology and cardiology; 14 residents are currently enrolled.
