Rooted Subcontinent-wide for over two decades, ICARE Eye Hospital & Post Graduate Institute is the only super-specialty, charitable tertiary eye-care centre in north India wholly dedicated to preserving and restoring sight. Founded in 1993 by private philanthropists, its single 7-acre campus near the Botanical Garden Metro Station serves as both a 350-bed charitable teaching hospital and WHO-recognised centre of excellence for prevention of blindness.
Campus & beds

Separate zones for pediatric, corneal-transplant, trauma and glaucoma cases ensure infection control and dignified patient flow.
Clinical departments
Cornea & anterior segment (Pentacam & specular microscopy), glaucoma (Humphrey visual fields with GAT), retina-vitreous (Constellation vitrectomy & Wavelight yellow laser), oculoplasty & ocular oncology, neuro-ophthalmology, uvea & ocular immunology, strabismus & pediatric ophthalmology, contact-lens clinic, advanced low-vision rehabilitation, and comprehensive community ophthalmology. An on-site ocular pathology lab houses an aflatoxin-negative cornea bank accredited by Eye Bank Association of India (EBAI) and routinely supplies >1 200 donor corneas annually.
Technology
Femto-second cataract system, high-resolution OCT & OCT-A, wide-field fundus imaging, Optos ultra-widefield retinal camera, intraoperative wavefront aberrometry (ORA), fluorescence angiography, diathermy-resistant micro-scissors, electromagnetic field-driven vitrectomy cutters, remote tele-screening vans fitted with 3-Nethra fundus cameras linked via 5G to Noida hub.
Teaching & research
Run by ICARE Eye Education & Research Society, the institute is affiliated with Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences and listed by the National Medical Commission (NMC) for 10 PG seats/year for DNB (Ophthalmology) and four diploma courses. On-campus library houses 3 000 print titles and access to 35 e-journals; wet-lab houses 30 microscopes with porcine and goat eyes. Faculty publish 35+ peer-reviewed papers per year; active trials include stem-cell keratoplasty, gene-therapy RP, and AI-enabled DR screening. Continuing medical education (CME) courses draw 600 practicing ophthalmologists each year.
Outreach
Ten mobile eye-units screen 150 000 villagers annually across western Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Haryana; >30 000 free cataract surgeries performed between 2019 and 2023 alone. Corporate social responsibility partnerships with NTPC, Indian Oil, Tata Power and HDFC fund “Gift of Sight” camps.
Quality & safety
NABH accredited since 2013, ISO 9001:2015 certified, and Green OT verified for energy efficiency. Cross-contamination rates <0.05 % for cataract and <0.2 % for vitreo-retinal cases. Emergency line 1800-3000-1616 and ambulance network operate 24 × 7.
