GSB INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, located at the foot of Pune’s lush Sinhagad foothills, is a co-educational, fully-residential Cambridge International centre offering a seamless continuum from Montessori through Grade XII. Established in 2011 by the Gyan-Sanskriti-Bodhi Educational Trust, the school was envisioned as a bridge between India’s living heritage and an outward-looking global curriculum, and it has since grown into a 22-acre, eco-certified campus that hosts 850 learners from 26 nationalities in six boarding houses.
Academic programme
The school is an authorised Cambridge school (IN879) delivering CAIE, IGCSE, AS & A Level examinations. Learners in the Early Years follow the UK-Early Years Foundation Stage integrated with Montessori principles; Primary (Grades I–V) uses a Cambridge-enhanced inquiry approach; Secondary (VI–VIII) deepens critical thinking through Project Zero strategies from Harvard Graduate School of Education; and Senior Secondary (IX–XII) offers 28 Cambridge subjects including Global Perspectives, Environmental Management, Digital Media & Design, and Hindustani Music. Average IGCSE grade in 2023 was A , and 64 % of A-Level candidates scored A*-A. Faculty of 96 full-time educators (57 % female, average 11.3 years’ experience) hold qualifications from Cambridge International, IB or NCTE-approved Indian universities, and all students participate in weekly one-to-one mentoring.
Boarding & pastoral care
Each learner joins one of four vertical clans—Tigers, Falcons, Cheetahs, Wolves—day scholars and boarders alike. Boarding starts from Grade V; 520 beds are arranged by gender and age group, and every floor has a resident teacher-parent. A student-run Wellness Council works closely with a resident psychologist to monitor the “Mind-Body-Soul” programme; 2023 well-being survey registered 92 % trust satisfaction. Diet is vegetarian by default with optional non-vegetarian meals, supervised by a sports nutritionist.
Enrichment & global engagement
GSB is home to the Centre for Future Readiness: four maker-spaces (Arduino, AI & Robotics, Carpentry, Textiles), one observatory, and a 550 m² hydroponics farm run by students. All learners undertake an annual 100-hour Service Learning project; current flagship partnerships include beach-restoration in Ratnagiri and coding literacy with Pune municipal schools. Over 54 % of students participate in MUN circuits, Model United Nations Dubai and The Hague having enlisted GSB delegations every year since 2017. The school fields 19 varsity teams—archery, cricket, equestrian, squash—and has produced three Khelo India-gold medallists. The 1,200-seat aerial amphitheatre regularly hosts TEDxYouth@GSB and speakers from MIT Media Lab and the Indian Space Research Organisation.
Outcomes & universitites
The Class of 2023 collected 12 Oxbridge, 7 Ivy/Stanford Penn, 38 top-tier liberal-arts offers, and four Ashoka Young India Fellowships. Scholarships totalling USD 3.4 million were earned. Lifelong membership in a global alumni guild offers internship pipelines and micro-credential courses co-awarded with University College London.
Admissions & ethos
GSB is need-blind for 12 % of boarding seats, and merit-cum-means awards exceed INR 6 crore annually. The school motto “Rooted in Sanskar, Ready for the World” is practiced through daily Sanskrit hymns, mud-pottery Fridays and coding bootcamps.
