Greater Noida Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) is a state-of-the-art 500-bed teaching hospital commissioned in 2021 by the Uttar Pradesh government to address the acute shortage of tertiary-care facilities in western UP and adjoining Delhi-NCR. Strategically located on Knowledge Park-III, the 33-acre campus combines modern architecture, green courtyards, barrier-free design and an internal circular road system to ensure smooth, 24 × 7 movement of patients, ambulances and supply chain. Equipped with 100 AC coaches and positioned 45 minutes from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, the site is serviced by metro shuttle, e-rickshaws and a Yathri Sewa bus loop, making tertiary care accessible to nearly four million residents.
GIMS is recognised by the National Medical Commission and is seamlessly integrated with GS Medical College and a 23-discipline Paramedical School. The clinical services divide into 20 supraspecialties and 30 specialties delivered through modular, infection-controlled operating theatres (six class-100), 70 intensive-care beds (ICU, NICU, PICU, dialysis and burns ICU), catheterisation labs, and 12 high-end laminar-flow theatres including a hybrid, neuronavigation and robotic surgery suite. Radiology hosts 3T MRI, 128-slice CT, dual-source HD CT with perfusion, digital subtraction angiography, 4D foetal echocardiography, portable USG and a cubicle-guided radiation therapy bunker. In true hub-and-spoke fashion, emergency receives 350 daily walk-ins through a golden-hour trauma corridor with on-site CT/MRI, blood bank, radiologist and 24-hour interventional labs. A fully equipped mother–child block with MVA ambulance, lactation hub and level-III NICU delivers 200 reproducible births every month.
Human resources are its core strength: 215 full-time faculty drawn from AIIMS, PGI and Safdarjung, 300 postgraduate residents and 120 super-specialty trainees, supervised by nationally applied protocols (NABH and ISO 15189). Patient-centred innovations include a pan-hospital HER, bedside bar-code medication, tele-ICU e-command centre linked to five peripheral CHCs, and a centralised radiology information system that renders second opinions within 30 minutes. Outpatient registration, exam, investigations, billing and discharge run on a single zero-queue digitised touch-point that integrates UPI, Ayushman Bharat and insurance data. Pharmacy, blood bank, laboratory and radiology remain functional 24×7 inside the same block to reduce patient turnaround time.
Affordability is underlined by 300 free beds for Below-Poverty-Line patients, 100% e-payment compliance with DBT under Ayushman Bharat and Mukhya Mantri Arogya Yojana, CGHS and ECHS panels, beside midday meals sponsored by Akshay Patra Foundation. For international patients, GIMS holds an IEC MOHFW licence and maintains an international patient lounge staffed by Arabi, Bangla and Nepali translators.
Research and academics thrive through 11 central labs collaborating with IIT-Delhi and ICMR. Current trials include neonatal ECMO outcomes (PI: Dr Shivani Sharma) and AI-led dermatopat hology scoring with a Rs 2-crore DBT grant. Community outreach is organised via weekly NCD vans, Poshan Abhiyan kitchens and 200 monthly school health workshops.
