Amar Public School, established in 1987, is a CBSE-affiliated, senior-secondary institution located in the civic heart of Prashant Vihar, North-West Delhi. Spread across a three-acre, tree-lined campus, the school serves approximately 3,200 students from Nursery to Class XII under the motto “Vidya Dadāti Vinayam” – “Knowledge Imparts Humility.” The campus combines heritage buildings renovated in 2018 with new LEED-certified blocks housing 80 smart classrooms, six ultramodern science labs, two ATL centers sponsored by NITI Aayog, a robotics & AI lab, and a 1:1 Apple iPad programme from Grade VI onward. A triple-storey library with 18,000 volumes, Kindles and a book-bank for under-resourced learners anchors the reading culture, while a 700-seat air-conditioned auditorium equipped with Dolby Atmos supports theatre, music and national-level MUN conferences.
Academic excellence has been consistent – the Class XII average hovers around 92 percent, with over 45 students scoring 99+ percentile in JEE-Main and NEET-UG last year. The faculty of 160 includes eight CBSE master trainers, three doctoral holders, and visiting scholars from IIT-Delhi and NID under the “Guru Partner” initiative. Students choose from 25 subject combinations (including Psychology, Legal Studies, AI and Spanish) and complete a mandatory 75-hour “Social Impact Lab” working with NGOs on live projects in nutrition, sanitation and financial literacy.
Co-scholastic breadth is equally robust. Sports infrastructure features an Olympic-size 50 m swimming pool with digital touch-pads, a semi-synthetic 400 m athletics track, two FIBA-standard basketball courts, specialised coaching in fencing, archery and chess, and a rooftop yoga deck. Cultural expression thrives through the 12-house system (named after Indian science luminaries), an annual three-week carnival “Amar Utsav,” photography club mentored by National Geographic stringers, and student-run podcast “APSVoice.”
Inclusion is woven into policy: the school reserves 5 percent seats for EWS category, runs a full-time special education wing with 1:5 educator-child ratio, and offers free transport to girl students after 5 p.m. Mind-wellbeing programmes include in-house counsellors, peer “Buddy Circles,” and parents’ webinars every term. The solar-panelled roof meets 60 percent of energy needs; rainwater harvesting recharges 80 percent of groundwater demand; and the waste-to-compost plant feeds the organic kitchen garden supplying 30 percent of hostel meals.
Annual fee ranges from INR 1.4 lakh (Nursery) to 2.7 lakh (Class XII), with merit-cum-means scholarships and alumni sponsorship covering 14 percent of students. More than 200 alumni now populate IITs, IISc, NLSIU, Ivy League colleges and the Indian Armed Forces, while the school itself ranked 8th among Delhi day schools in the Education-World survey 2023.
