RSS International School (Rashtriya Shiksha Sansthan International School) is a CBSE-affiliated, K-12 day-cum-boarding campus located in the serene foothills of Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. Established in 2006 by the not-for-profit Rashtriya Shiksha Sansthan Trust, the school was envisioned by educationist-cum-armed-forces veteran Col. (Retd.) Yogesh Kapur as a cradle of “rooted globalism” where Indian values meet 21st-century competencies.
Set on a 22-acre secure, CCTV-monitored site 12 km from Dharamshala airport, the school combines red-stone Tibetan architecture with green technologies: a 40-kW rooftop solar array, an on-site bottling plant, and grey-water recycling that irrigates its organic herb gardens. A climate-controlled indoor sports arena, a half-Olympic swimming pool, and a 10-meter-tall artificial climbing wall ensure year-round physical education even during heavy monsoons.
Academics run from Toddler Montessori through Grade XII following the NCERT curriculum delivered through XSEED, Cambridge English, and ASSET diagnostic modules. In Senior Secondary the school offers Science (PCM/PCB with optional IP or Psychology) and Commerce (with Applied Maths). Average class size is 24, and every student from Grade V upward is issued a locked Chromebook with G-Suite and adaptive Mindspark licenses. Apple TVs and feedback clickers are standard fixtures in the 48 smart classrooms. Result indicators are strong: a 96.7 % pass rate in Grade X CBSE 2023 with 11 school toppers above 95 % and 17 IIT-JEE (Main) qualifiers.
Beyond academics, the 70-activity Enrichment Compass nurtures every child in four axes: STEM-Tinker, Performing & Visual Arts, Community-Leadership, and Outdoor-Expedition. Highlights include aeromodelling sponsored by Lockheed Martin, a Lego FIRST Tech Challenge team ranked in top-3 at Nationals, and a MUN circuit that hosts 400 delegates every October. Boarders select from 18 evening clubs; the Jazz-Band and contemporary-dance troupe regularly tour partner schools in Singapore and Canada under the British Council ISA accreditation.
Pastoral care is deliberate. The boarding houses (four senior, two junior, gender-segregated) are run by house-parents trained in Positive Discipline and UCLA-certified mindfulness. The infirmary with a 6-bed ward and 24×7 ambulance is staffed by a pediatrician and two nurses from Fortis Hospital collaboration. The on-campus café employs FSSAI-licensed chefs who follow ISO 22000 protocols; Monday–Thursday menus are vegetarian, and Jain or international options are always available.
Fee structure is mid-premium compared to metros: tuition ₹1.70 L p.a. (Grade IX), hostel ₹1.60 L including meals and laundry. Need-blind merit scholarships (25–100 % remission) are funded by the Parent-Teacher Society and the Old-RSSian Alumni Network. Over 42 % of current boarders receive some form of financial aid; the school prides itself on geographic diversity with students from 19 states and 12 countries.
Admission cycle begins October 1 for the following July intake. Entry points are Play-Group to Grade XI; migrants from IB/IGCSE can join a one-month bridge in Math and English before September.
