Uttarakhand Public School (UPS) is a private, English-medium, co-educational institution founded in 2003 under the aegis of the Social Welfare & Educational Development Society, Dehradun. Nestled in the foothills of the Shivaliks at Raipur, on the outskirts of Dehradun, the seven-acre campus blends academic blocks with pine-shaded lawns, playing fields and the constant backdrop of the Mussoorie ridge. From a modest 87 learners on day one, the school now nurtures close to 1,800 students from pre-primary to Class XII, drawing children from 47 villages and nearby cantonments while remaining true to its original mission: “to provide world-class learning opportunities to hill-region children at a cost their parents can afford”.

Affiliation & Curriculum UPS is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Del-2490021. The curriculum is interwoven with UNESCO’s four pillars of learning; every child studies English, Hindi, Mathematics, General Science, Social Studies and Sanskrit/Urdu up to Class VIII, then chooses the Science, Commerce or Humanities stream in Senior Secondary. Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) is practised from Classes I to X; for XI-XII the school follows the latest CBSE pattern and NEP guidelines, including skill modules in AI, Financial Literacy and Tourism. The school’s board results remain well above the national mean—class-average aggregate of 86 % in 2023 with 67 students scoring above 90 %.

Leadership & Faculty Mrs. Rashmi Rawat served as founder Headmistress until 2011 and is now Director-Academics; academic leadership is vested in Principal Mr. Pankaj Uniyal (M.Sc., B.Ed., 24 years’ experience). The faculty of 72 full-time teachers, four PETs and three Special Educators includes five Ph.D and 27 postgraduate degree-holders. Regular capacity-building is enabled through tie-ups with CBSE CoE, Homi Bhabha Centre and the India Didactics Association; every teacher logs a minimum of 50 hours of in-service training annually.

Infrastructure The campus is fully Wi-Fi enabled. The Junior Block houses colourful Montessori, activity and sleep rooms, while the Senior Block has 42 smart classrooms, separate laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Language, Home Science and ATAL Tinkering Lab. There are two computer labs hosting 90 LCD desktops and a robotics studio equipped with 3-D printers. The 15,000-volume ‘Learn-To-Lead’ library carries DELNET and NDL e-book access; The A.V. Room (120 seats) doubles as an e-classroom and TEDx venue. Sports facilities include a 400-m eight-lane athletic track, cricket ground with turf wicket, three basketball courts, a skating rink, and an indoor sports complex for table-tennis, chess and yoga. Eco-initiatives include a four-kilowatt rooftop solar plant, rainwater harvesting tanks (2.5 lac litres) and vermi-composting of all wet waste.

Pastoral Care & Programmes The four pastoral houses—Himalaya, Shivalik, Ganga and Yamuna—anchor an inter-house system that saturates inter-school competitions, clubs and Tae-kwon-do, athletics, NCC Army and Air Wings, MUN and social-service camps held in the adjoining Jim Corbett ranges. A qualified counsellor observes every classroom fortnightly and runs the school’s Child Safeguarding Committee aligned to POCSO 2012. Annual cost of attendance ranges from ₹22,000 (nursery) to ₹38,000 (Class XII), enabling over 12 % of the roll on merit-cum-means scholarships.

Recognitions UPS is ISO 9001:2015 certified, British Council ISA (2022-25) awarded, and among the top-ranked co-ed day schools of Uttarakhand in Education World 2023.
