White Lotus International School (WLIS) is a private, co-educational day-cum-boarding campus established in 2006 by the White Lotus Educational Trust. Set on a secure, 22-acre hillock in the outskirts of Pune, Maharashtra, the school overlooks the Mula River and offers an eco-friendly, technology-enabled environment for 1,550 students from Nursery to Grade 12. Its spacious red-stone buildings, shaded courtyards, and energy-saving solar rooftops reflect the school’s founding philosophy of “rooted values, global vision.” WLIS is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and also offers Cambridge International curricula (IGCSE & A Levels) through parallel streams selected at Grade 8, preparing students for both domestic entrance exams and overseas university pathways.

The academic programme is organised around the four pillars of Conceptual Clarity, Applied Research, Digital Competence and Ethical Leadership. From Grade 4 upward every student joins “Project Symphony,” an interdisciplinary, weekly research period where mixed-age teams investigate local issues—water quality, micro-finance, heritage mapping—under university mentors, culminating in a TED-style exposition each semester. Senior secondary students may elect Advanced Capstone Courses in Astrophysics, Bio-Tech, Performing Arts or Economic Policy, earning dual credit with partner institutions such as FLAME University, MIT Pune and National School of Drama. All classrooms are equipped with AI-assisted adaptive-learning panels and an 8:1 student-device ratio, yet the school limits screen time in junior classes to two hours per day to nurture real-world observation. English is the medium of instruction, with compulsory Hindi and choice of Mandarin, Spanish or Marathi; Grade 5 pupils begin Sanskrit shloka recitation to cultivate phonetic agility.

Pastoral care rests on a “Vertical House” system (Earth, Fire, Water, Air) overseen by resident House Parents who live on each corridor; weekly circle-time and monthly service projects embed empathy. The school is pioneer of the Inner Wellness Curriculum, a mindfulness-based life-skills programme developed with the Dalai Lama Institute which has been adopted by 42 partner schools across India. Boarders enjoy ensuite rooms for four, organic meals sourced from the campus permaculture farm, and nightly supervised prep sessions. Health care is provided by a six-bed infirmary staffed round-the-clock with two resident nurses and an on-call pediatrician.

WLIS competes at district, national and international levels in 34 sports—football, squash, shooting, fencing, equestrian, yoga archery—thanks to an all-weather FIFA turf, Olympic 50 m swimming complex with ozone filtration, and a five-storey indoor sports arena. The SPARC High-performance Academy selects 80 athletes through talent scouting in Grade 6 and offers personalised training with Olympic coaches plus sports-psychology workshops. The “Kalaangan” Centre for the Arts houses a 650-seat auditorium, 12 music studios, Carnatic & Hindustani labs and a kiln room, while the Community Radio Station WL 90.4 FM lets students host weekly programmes reaching 40,000 local listeners. Annual global expeditions—to Space Camp Turkey, Milford Trek New Zealand or Silicon Valley Tech Tour—prepare learners for multicultural collaboration.
