Tansen Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Noida Sector 119, stands a kilometre inside from the main Amrapali Road, tucked between rows of pastel apartment blocks at C-47, Star City. A gentle curve of sandstone steps leads visitors past a small trough of marigolds to an arched foyer whose pan-Indian ambitions are immediately audible: Tanpura drones drift out in the mornings; fret-slides from electric guitars buzz in the evening. Founded in 2018, the institute is the newest branch of the 70-year-old Delhi-based Tansen network, yet it has already become a creative anchor for neighbouring sectors 120, 121 and Greater Noida West.
The centre occupies 1,800 square feet split over two floors. The ground floor was originally a double-height basement, now acoustically treated with compressed jute panels; here sit two mirrored studios for Kathak and Bharatnatyam, sprung floors over neoprene pads that absorb the stomp of quick chakkars. A spiral staircase of burnished teak ascends to three sound-damped chambers: Tabla & Pakhawaj share one, Electronic Music Production another, and a glassed-in chamber named simply “Raag” houses harmoniums, tanpuras, sitars and a Yamaha grand.
Faculty totals twelve permanent teachers, many carrying ganda-bandhan lineages. Kathak mentor Smt Monali Guha was a disciple of Pt Birju Maharaj; Western-fusion guitarist Arjun Menon spent five years touring with A. R. Rahman. Student strength averages 320, ranging from four-year-olds clapping tālis in Pre-Primary batches to corporate employees unwinding with Friday-evening guitar. Weekend certification courses in Sound Engineering, powered off Ableton Live, draw audio-buffs from IIT Delhi and Film City alike.
Two annual highlights dominate the social calendar. In December the branch stages “Sur Tarang”, an evening recital under LED string-lights on the building terrace, where Ebony-green AstroTurf converts into an open-air proscenium. Holi brings the “Raag Rang Utsav”, a colour-throw followed by dhrupad dawn-desk recitals that begin at 5.30 a.m. on the rooftop. Both events are live-streamed; 360-degree recordings are archived on the institute’s YouTube channel, which has 42 k subscribers.
Prospects can book a complimentary 30-minute trial—instrument or vocal—via WhatsApp +91 8076 222 333. Monthly fees range from ₹1,500 for beginner keyboard batches to ₹3,000 for one-to-one tabla. Transport loops connect the campus to Botanical Garden metro via shuttle e-rickshaws every fifteen minutes; trusted dabbawallas of Amrapali Chowk handle tiffin deliveries for children staying through after-school hours.
