A 26-year-old woman died on Wednesday night in the Ivy County housing society, Sector-74, which falls under Sector-113 police station limits in Noida.
Her brother has filed a case at Sector-113 police station against her husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law and sister-in-law, accusing the four of harassing her for dowry and driving her to death.

Police said the autopsy listed the cause of death as hanging, and the body was handed over to the family after the examination.

Deepika Goyal, an elder sister of Anmol Goyal from Nehru Nagar, Ghaziabad, married Aditya Goyal, a resident of Ivy County, in February 2023.
The brother alleges that Aditya routinely assaulted Deepika whenever she raised the issue at home and that the family kept demanding a flat and a car as dowry.

On Wednesday, the brother last spoke to her through a video call around 4 p.m. Around 8:45 p.m. messages saying “bye, sorry, I love you” appeared in a common family WhatsApp group; the brother believes the husband and in-laws typed and sent these messages themselves.

Despite repeated calls, the in-laws said Deepika had “gone for a walk in the park.”

At about 10:15 p.m. the family learnt that Deepika had been found hanging. Doctors at Fortis Hospital, Sector-62, declared her dead on arrival.

Krishna Gopal Sharma, Station House Officer, said police received a memo from Fortis Hospital reporting the suicide on Wednesday night.
After autopsy, the body was released.

Based on the brother’s complaint, a case has been registered against husband Aditya, his mother, his father and his sister under charges of abetment to suicide and dowry harassment.
