500 city e-buses will be operated under the name GBN Green Transport Company, finalized on Friday. A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) will now be formed to manage the company.
The SPV will have four directors and seven subscribers, who will take key decisions on bus operations. The CEOs of the three local authorities—Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna—will serve as directors, along with the Noida Traffic Director. Additionally, one senior executive from each authority’s board and the financial controller of Noida Authority will be subscribers.
Earlier, three company names were proposed to the government and registrar:
- NGY Urban Mobility Services
- GBN Easy Ride Services
- GBN Green Transport Company
GBN Green Transport Company was officially selected on Friday. After the SPV is formed, the remaining staff appointments will be finalized in the first board meeting.
The e-buses will operate on 25 routes, including Noida International Airport, across Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna region. 300 buses will run in Noida, 100 in Greater Noida, and 100 in YEIDA area. Operations will follow a Gross Cost Contract (GCC) model.
Two Operators Selected
- Travel Time Mobility India Pvt. Ltd. will run 9-meter buses at ₹54.90 per km.
- DelBus Mobility Pvt. Ltd. will run 12-meter buses at ₹67.99 per km.
Project Details
- Project value: ₹675 crore.
- Bus types: 250 standard-floor 12-meter buses and 250 standard-floor 9-meter buses.
- Infrastructure includes: E-buses, 240 kW fast chargers, depots, tools, and maintenance.
- Term: 12 years with a target of 72,000 km per bus annually.
Security deposit required:
- ₹1.75 crore for each 12-meter AC bus
- ₹1.25 crore for each 9-meter bus
Seven consulting firms (DIMS, UMTC, CRIS, CIRT, RITES, CRRI, IIT Delhi) were invited to assess infrastructure needs. One will be selected soon.
